Zapote Bridge

This is one of the oldest historical bridges in Las Pinas located in Barangay Zapote, a short drive from Sarao Motors Inc and Bamboo Organ Church. Morning is the best time to visit the site. 

 

This bridge is the setting of the  Battle of Zapote Bridge which was fought on February 17, 1897, as part of the Philippine Revolution.

standing tall along C-5 Extension Road, Pulanglupa, Las Piñas City, Philippines, in honor of the Spanish Agustinian priest who served as parish priest of Las Piñas from 1876 to 1879.Pope John Paul II canonized him in his historic city of Santo Domingo of the Dominican Republic.

The Lara House is a historic house located in Las Piñas, Metro Manila, Philippines. Built in the 1880s, the house was the first municipal hall of Las Piñas where its first mayor, Juan Tiongkiao, held office from 1905 to 1913.

Along with its growth, the seat of power of Las Piñas continued to adapt with several changes as well.

 

Don Calixto Lara, who used to own salt beds and lands, and his wife Andeng Velasquez were the original owners of the house. Don Calixto Lara was one of the 95 men that gathered and assembled for the Act of Philippine Declaration of Independence, signed by the War Counsellor and Special Delegate-Designate, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista. Francesca Lara, daughter of Calixto Lara, was only 16 years old when the house was built. Her brothers, Cirpriano Lara, has lineage to Charlene Gonzales(Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1994 and a finalist in the 1994 Miss Universe Pageant held in Manila) while Elioterio Lara worked as clerk in Cuartel Master located in Intramuros, Manila. Her husband was Graciano Santos. They were the grandparents of the current owner (wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_House_(Las_Piñas)

Sarao Motors, Inc. is a Filipino automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Brgy. Pulang Lupa in the city of Las Piñas inMetro Manila, Philippines. The company designs, engineers, manufactures and distributes the jeepney, the most popular form of transportation in the country, labeled as the 'king of the road' in the Philippines.

 

Sarao is also a manufacturer of owner-type, custom-built jeepneys and other type of vehicles for schools, businesses and other institutions. Pope John Paul II rode on a specially built owner-type jeepney by Sarao during his first travel to the country in 1981.

Plaza Quezon

The Plaza Quezon is another historical landmark that has witnessed a myriad of political rallies and other significant events.  It is now converted into a park where people can come together and spend a day of leisure in its pleasant surroundings. It is the talk of the town when Christmas is approaching because this park is also known for one of the pioneers of parol makings.

 

Designated as the Freedom Park in the City of Las Piñas by City Ordinance No. 700-06, Series of 2006. This was in accordance with Section 15 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 880, otherwise known as the "Public Assembly Act of 1985"

Plaza Rizal

Opposite to the St. Joseph Church are steps leading up to Plaza Rizal, and a statue of Jose Rizal stands by the steps. Plaza Rizal is one of the notable community parks and squares here in the Philippines.

The St. Joseph Church

   (The Home of the World Famous Bamboo Organ)

St. Joseph Parish Church ( Iglesia Parroquial de San José de Las Piñas), commonly known as the Las Piñas Bamboo Organ Church or simply Las Piñas Church, is the Roman Catholic church of the parish of Las Piñas, just south of the city of Manila in the Philippines. The church is renowned as the house of the Las Piñas Bamboo Organ, a pipe organ made mostly with bamboo pipes. To the right of the church is an old Spanish convent converted into a gift shop and the entrance for observing the organ up close. Also in the church complex is St. Joseph's Academy, a primary and secondary education school established in 1914.

The parish falls under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Parañaque. The parish priest of the Las Piñas church is Rev. Msgr. Mario Josefino Martinez, PC, JCD since July 1, 2011

 

The Las Piñas Church was designated as Historic Structure by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines with the placing of a historical marker in 1995.

 

Inside this church can be found the World Famous Bamboo Organ which is still functioning and can be heard when you go on tour. It is now 199 years old and the church on the other hand is 218 years old.
